Outside of School

Cheerleading

I first started cheer in a program called Young Champions. I stayed with this program for 12 years, and then decided that I wanted to switch to all star cheer leading. This is a more demanding, competitive type of cheer that had always interested me.

My first all star team was called Phoenix Flames, and I was there for two years. I now cheer on an all star team called Midwest Xplosion, in Commerce. Here, I am on two level five teams (the highest level at the gym), and I'm an ambassador for the program. As a level five athlete on two teams, I have very quickly learned how to manage my time and be responsible. One of my teams is now attending the most prestigious competition in the business, the All Star Cheer leading Worlds.

Also, in school, I was apart of the South Lyon East Varsity Cheer sideline team all four years of high school. I made the varsity squad from my freshman year to my senior year, and this experience helped me to really become apart of my school.

BAND

I was apart of the school band from 6th grade all the way to my junior year in high school. I played both the baritone and the alto saxophone. In high school, I was apart of both the marching band and the symphonic band, and we were a very prestigious group. In marching band, we made it to the state finals my last year and ended up coming in 8th place out of the many schools that were there. In symphonic band, we also made it to states all three years, and we received ones, or ratings of excellence, each time we attended. I was a member in the saxophone choir, and we received top ratings as well. My sophomore year, I played in the pit orchestra for the musical called Bye Bye Birdie, and received an award for my dedication to the play.

National honors Society

I have been apart of the South Lyon East National Honors Society for 2 years. In order to join this program, one has to have a certain GPA and be able to give back to their community. Each year, I complete the minimum 20 hours of community service, both inside and outside of school. I also have to maintain a 3.5 GPA throughout the year to stay in the program. Being apart of this chapter has allowed me to have a very prominent role in my community.
